20th Century Film Week 2

Keaton has been praised on his modernity, which can be seen most typically in his gags. They tend to involve some dangerous situation such as a building falling or a wall falling and Keaton has for some reason been so lucky to escape the falling building or wall by standing in the safe zone around the crumbling building, or standing exactly where the window would be in a wall. His style for gags was widely admired as modern based on the environment of the gag and the planning that went into the shooting the scene. The other area that Keaton is praised in is his cinematic tricks; from Sherlock Jr. Keaton superimposes himself to show himself napping while the second part of him is watching the film being played.
I find myself really enjoying the physical stunts that Keaton did in Sherlock Jr. it really shows how well Keaton could really perform in those stunt situations. As far as his gags, I think it was a first for many gags just like it later on through the present in film.
